About the Aerospace Engineering Explorer Post

The Aerospace Engineering Explorer Post sponsored by Lockheed Martin is designed to give area high school students a behind-the-scenes, first-hand experience with aerospace engineering and technology.  The Aero Explorer Post, open to all area High School students, meets every other week for 8 months on the Lockheed Martin Waterton campus. Students will hear from industry experts on various space programs including Maven, Insight, Osiris-Rex and Orion. Student participants will also complete a number of hands-on engineering activities and have the opportunity to take part in a final design project. For this final challenge, student teams will design and build a capstone project with their peers for an engineering-related objective. Students will have the opportunity to tour Lockheed Martin’s various facilities at the Waterton campus as well as the engineering school at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Lockheed Martin Engineers volunteer their own time as advisors to help run this program and can be approached for mentoring opportunities throughout the year.
